Default options

The default tab allows you to define default options for Play The Web and the scope of the current parameters: current user or all users (local machine).

Launch options for Play The Web

Play The Web can be automatically started when a user opens a Windows session. This is an interesting feature if you want to run this software on a dedicated computer. Check the "Launch Play The Web when Windows starts" option to get this behavior.

This option creates a new value in the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] or the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Run] registry key. So, the current user should have write access to the registry key.

Use the "Set default association for .WSS files" check box to set association between the current program and the .WSS files. Because of this association, Play The Web will be launched if you double-click on a .WSS file in Windows Explorer. Note that this association is also automatically created during the software installation.

The current association is displayed under the check box.

This check box is grayed out if Play The Web is the default program associated to .WSS files.

The "Set this presentation as default file" check box defines which .WSS file is loaded by default when Play The Web is launched.

The current default file is displayed under the check box.

This check box is grayed out when the current .WSS file (displayed in Configuration dialog title bar) is the default file (the file stated in DefaultFile registry key).

Parameters scope

Finally, there is the "Define scope for current parameters" option. Two values are available:

  • Local machine (all users)
This is the default value. All the parameters that can be defined in the Configuration dialog box apply to every user account. Parameters are located in the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Vaugouin\Play The Web] registry key. So, the current user should have write access to this registry key.
  • Current user
With this option, current parameters in the Configuration dialog box apply only to the user that is logged now. Parameters are located in the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Vaugouin\Play The Web] registry key. So, the current user should have write access to this registry key.
