Exclude properties

Type here a restricted URL. A restricted URL can be:

  • a mask including a star (*) character, for exclusion of some file types.
  • the left part of a web site URL.
Then, if the user tries to navigate to an URL matching one of these masks, the navigation will be canceled and the required page will not be displayed.

Use a mask to remove some file types from the screensaver page loop. For instance:

*.xml
*.rss
*.rdf
*.ram
*.css
*.ico

All these masks are excluded by default, to avoid some contents being displayed in screensaver mode. These masks are useful when the page list is computed from a value file.

This feature also is useful if your pages include links to other web sites. Including addresses of these web sites will prevent users to quit your pages by a click on a link.

You can also use the Exclude list to prevent users to go in special parts of your web site. For instance, if you include the following line in Include list:

http://www.play-the-web.com

And this line in Exclude list:

http://www.play-the-web.com/download

Users will be able to browse the Play The Web web site, but access to the download part will be refused by the software. Also, it will be impossible to navigate to another web site. Click here for a demo of this feature.

The "Apply to Run mode" check box tells if the given address is restricted for variable URL generation in screensaver mode.

The "Apply to Nav mode" check box tells if the given address is restricted for navigation in browse mode.
